What is Venus Viva?

When it comes to skin resurfacing, CO2 lasers used to be the frontrunner, but these procedures also came with a lot of pain and downtime that could last several weeks, if not longer (since they essentially remove the top layer of your skin). Venus Viva skin resurfacing treatments deliver the same results, just with significantly less pain and much lower downtime. And unlike lasers, which only work for fair complexions, Venus Viva skin resurfacing treatments use technology that is safe for all skin tones.

Why Use Venus Viva?

Your skin is your body’s first defence against everything your environment has to throw at it. Every day it defends you against UV radiation, protects you from dehydration, and shields you from damaging pollution particles. It stops bacteria, viruses and skin infections. Most of the time you can ignore your skin and let it do its job. Sometimes it needs attention and rejuvenation.

How It Works

Venus Viva skin resurfacing treatments work with tiny pins that safely deliver heat (via NanoFractional Radio Frequency) through the skin’s surface. This creates tiny micro-dermal wounds, which the body naturally heals on its own. This process repairs signs of skin damage visible on the surface of the skin. Since the wounds are so small, the treatment is much more comfortable than traditional CO2 lasers, while still producing incredibly visible results.

Contraindications (Reasons Why Venus Versa May Not Be Suitable for You)
- Roaccutane with in 3 months
- Pacemakers and fitted Pumps
- Permanent Metal Implants in the area to be treated
- Pregnancy or breast-feeding
- History of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing
- Tanning medications
- Open wounds of any kind, eczema, dermatitis, active rosacea, active Herpes Simplex
- Recent surgery in the area (with in last 3-6 months)
- Cancer or radiation therapy
- Sunburn in area to be treated
- Recent waxing, IPL, laser therapy or injectable treatments (within last week)

Potential Complications (Rare)

If the healing skin is incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing time and possibly lead to infection and scarring.

Hyper-pigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin associated with trauma) lasting for 1 to 12 months. (Can be treated with medicated bleaching creams).

Possible herpes simplex outbreak if prone to cold sores in treatment area.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The VIVA is designed to be performed in a course of treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Initially it is recommended you begin with 3-6 treatments, however deeper lines, scarring and other severe skin conditions may take more regular sessions which will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Ultimately, the number of treatments required will vary patient to patient and will be assessed during your consultation. The treatment price will be based on the treatment surface area and number of treatments required. It will be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Prior to Your Treatment

You will be prescribed a homecare regimen suited to your skin type

Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30-50+

Cease use of any Retinol products 48 hours prior to the treatment
During the Treatment

A single treatment last approximately 40-60 minutes. The VIVA handpiece is passed over the area, a prickling sensation along with heat will be felt. A topical anesthesia (cream), which offers excellent pain relief, may be applied to facial areas to limit discomfort. After the treatment you will feel heat to your treatment area and this will be cooled with a complimentary cool hydrating mask. This will enable you relax for 20 minutes prior to leaving our clinic.
After Treatment
Face:
- Most patients will experience a mild sunburn like sensation that lasts 2 to 5 hours
- Moderate redness with some swelling, immediately after and lasting up to 12 – 36 hours
- Raised, red marks may be present and will fade shortly after
- treatment.
- Skin will feel rough to the touch and will resolve in 1 week
- The treated area is generally sensitive to heat for 2 days following treatment
Body:
- Most patients will experience a mild sunburn like sensation that lasts 2 to 5 hours
- Moderate redness with some swelling, immediately after and lasting up to 12 – 36 hours
- Raised, red marks may be present and may last 1-2 weeks
- Skin will feel rough to the touch and will resolve in 1 week
- Some residual darkening may occur that may last 2-4 weeks then fade
- The treated area is generally sensitive to heat for 2 days following treatment.
Patient After Care
For the next 3-5 days following treatment:
- Do not use products containing AHA’s, BHA’s, Vitamin A (Retinol), astringents or exfoliating granules
- Cool compress or ice as needed
- Apply moisturiser as required (skin is best to remain moist during this time)
- Do not exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
- Do not expose the skin to sun
- MUST apply a sunscreen daily
- Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, chlorinated and salt water pools, steam baths and hot showers for 48 hours following your treatment
- Avoid waxing, IPL, Laser or depilatory creams for 2 weeks following your treatment
- Avoid make up for 12 hours post laser
- Avoid applying tanning products for 1+ weeks following your treatment
- Home Care Products will be discussed with you at your initial consultation to ensure individualised skin maintenance appropriate for your skin
